Broadcaster. Leader. Poet. Using the precision of language to navigate life’s deepest transitions and reframe the landscape of loss.
The Journey to the Word
A life spent in leadership and public broadcasting taught me the power of the spoken word, yet it was the profound silence following my husband’s death in 2019 that compelled me to write. In the wake of loss, I was changed, and poetry became my lens for survival.
I found that if I could capture a feeling with truest precision—if I could get the words exactly right—I could shift the weight of grief into my peripheral vision and find the space to breathe again. Writing helped me grasp the weight of a world without him, transforming pain into understanding.
Today, this practice is my way of navigating the complexities of the human experience. It is how I acknowledge my blessings, honor the past, and focus my attention on the path forward.
FEATURED WORK
Living with the dead
Living With The Dead is a significant departure from my previous work. I found myself thinking more and more of the people I have depended on through my life. They have died. I loved them, and they loved me. I owed them this book. Writing it gave me great satisfaction, and sharing it brings me joy.
